This 2015 Spain is the musical epicentre

This year a lot of people will travel to Spain just to see one of many concerts that are scheduled from spring until November around the country. Culture and festivities have always been a good reason to travel, but nowadays is more often to plan holidays just to assist to a special event (a musical launch, a stage show and last but not least the concert with worldwide bands).

Cultural tourism is for those who like to plan their travels with leisure and culture as the main reason to pick the destination, in Spain 43.9% to 57.9% prefer it. If we look at the foreigners, concerts are below museums and art exhibitions, but above theatre, opera and different kind of shows, in fact, according to the INE, 34% of the Spanish travellers claim to have been in a concert last year, which is similar to the rest of Europe (37%)

2015 is a year charged up for all the music lovers: the festivities fever is spreading fast all over the country, the good old Benicassim Festival despite not being as unique as before, still remains as musical reference in east Spain during summer, and adding new ones such like the Low Cost Festival or the Arenal Sound.

Barcelona, with the Primavera Sound and the Sónar, has become the starter pistol of the musical summer across the country, many have bought the ticket since the end of November and beginning December and booked in a hotel in the centre of Barcelona to confirm their assistance to the first big independent musical event of the year in Spain. With names like Patty Smith, The Strokes, Eels, The Black Keys, Belle & Sebastian, etc. this 2015 version of the Primavera Sound is wicked, it will take place the last May weekend in the Fórum as always.

The accommodations for large groups in the centre of Barcelona are common in this season, also many travellers like to rent an apartment close to where the concerts would be or next to the beach, to enjoy both things. Luckily during these days, some of the hotels in Barcelona offer special discounts, especially the ones who are more attractive for young people, with modern buildings and featured services: hotels with free wifi service close to Las Ramblas, hotels with Chill Out terraces or with a lovely view to the city, with after work bars and close to the main entertainment areas of Barcelona.

Bilbao is another favourite destination for music lovers this summer in Spain. The BBK live celebrate its ten years, and what a great list of guests indeed. Top bands like Muse, Counting Crows, Of Monsters and Men, Ben Harper, Kodaline… they’re all going to be in the spectacular Kobetamendi open area, an emblematic hill outside town with view to the sea inlet and with easy access from the centre of the city, allowing us to enjoy not only the music but also to relax, go out for tapas and celebrate around the old district. The accommodation offer for large groups may not be as wide as in Barcelona, The Airbnb service, apartments close to the Kobetamendi or well a hotel in the centre of Bilbao or a hotel in the Getxo beaches might be the best options. Make sure to make your airline reservation as the Bilbao flights are completely different from the ones to Barcelona, and the festival schedule is set: from july 9 to 11.

During summer, dozens of concerts will take place across the entire country, mostly on the coastal zone; some of them will have renowned bands like The Libertines that will play in one of the hot spot hotels of the island. Since it will have a large audience we recommend you to buy the ticket ahead and book the accommodation in Ibiza as soon as possible.

Like a musical tour you can travel around Spain this summer and enjoy cities like Marbella and Malaga, Granada, Los Monegros, Cádiz.

Good old bands are back!

Big bands that will play in Madrid and Barcelona like Supertramp(November) and AC/DC(May). You should reserve your ticket if you haven’t already since these bands will be crowded, or you will miss it, actually some of them sold out (like the AC/DC in Madrid)

Even though it is low season, be sure to book as soon as possible at least for those who want an accommodation on these dates: it’s true that the hotel offer in the centre of Madrid is very wide and it would be weird not to find any space, but if you do it now it will save you some money besides being sure to choose your desired hotel, area and the room you’re interested in, without any restriction.
